Rocky Radio's F.A.Q.

Q. When did Rocky Radio begin?
A. 1998

Q. Why are there huge lapses in time from one show to the next? Why not do them once a week?
A. We used to do them more often, but we realized that we would be discussing the same news if we continued to do weekly shows. We *TRY* for a new show once a month, but with family, work and everything else in the real world, we are sometimes hard pressed to get one done. It also depends on what, if any, major news available to discuss. I mean, sure we could do a weekly show hyping an upcoming con, but wouldn't you get tired of it all after a while, the same story, the same news, the same old shit, show after show after show? We keep our schedule as is to keep it somewhat fresh.

Q. Do you feel Rocky Radio has "historical significance" in the world of Rocky Horror?
A. Absolutely. Rocky Radio broke a lot of new ground. Aside from being the first to broadcast a show about the current goings on in the world of Rocky Horror, we were able to communicate with people not only in the USA, but around the world, who may not have had the chance to get ALL the news they wanted. Rocky Radio wouldn't be around today if it wasn't asked for. If it's asked for, then people want to hear it and if people want to hear it, it has significance.

Q. What is your favorite memory of doing Rocky Radio?
A. Shit, where to begin? Rocky Radio has made me many friends in the community (and at least ONE enemy, lol). I would not be able to call people like KevJB, Bill, Tace, Asia, Sebastian, Scott Michaels, Zola (just to name a few) friends of mine. Having Ritz on the show was my second favorite show (with the West Virginia show being my all time favorite).

Q. What is your worst memory of doing Rocky Radio?
A. Mark M. or Puffin ... it's a toss up. At least Puffin was amusing ...

Q. Speaking of Mark M. what the hell is his deal?
A. He has no life I am guessing. He isn't just an asshole on the newsgroup, but is also an asshole on Wikipedia and Live Journal. He is a stain on the shoe of Roy Spencer, meaning he isn't really worth the time or worth giving him credit.

Q. When will the archives be done?
A. Well ... it's going to take some time. Converting all the old shows from RA/RM (Real Media) to a usable MP3 takes time. Just keep checking back.

Q. How do you guys make money off the site?
A. We don't. Rocky Radio is not-for-profit. Meaning we don't make a dime off the site via advertising or anything. Any prizes we give away we purchase or are donated to us as well as the media/songs we play. We have never made a dime off of Rocky Radio.

Q. What is the "normal" editing time for the shows?
A. Usually about six hours from the raw unedited show to the final, fully edited show.

Q. What programs/software do you use?
A. We started Rocky Radio using Sound Forge 4.0 and are now up to Sound Forge 9.0 as it is just the most versatile program for recording and editing we've used.

Q. What type of microphones are used?
A. Nady and MXR.  Summers mic will be upgraded to a Shure 55 by the end of the year.

Q. How much of the show is actually used for a final broadcast?
A. Good question.  There is a LOT of stuff that is expected to be edited out.  From excessive "um's" to coughing, sneezing, etc.  Honestly, maybe one percent of the shows are missing from their raw form to the final cut.  So, we use 99% of what we record.

Q. Can you get me contact info for (insert name here) ?
A. We can not get you contact info or forward any letters, emails, etc. to anyone "big" in the Rocky Horror world.

Q.  Are you recognized by Fox or Richard or ... ?
A.  We are, yes.
